7 Writers Conferences to Attend

18 January, 2016 by Debra

Writer’s conferences are one of the best places to get your work in front of agents and acquisitions editors. While you can find conferences happening the year round, spring and summer have the most to offer.

Now, while you still have time to rearrange your work schedule and purchase plane tickets at a reasonable price, is a good time to look at what’s ahead, and what will meet your needs.

Here are several questions to consider as you study the conferences.

  1. Are the agencies and publishing houses you hope to join represented?

  2. Are they offering workshops you are interested in and can learn from?

  3. Is it within your budget? Not only must you consider the cost of the conference, you’ll also need to think about the cost of getting there, a hotel room, and meals. Which is why questions 1 and 2 are so critical. You certainly don’t want to shell out big dollars and then discover there’s nothing there for you.

Connecting with and making new friends is one of the best parts of attending a conference!
