How Vision Boards Can Help You Reach Your Goals

1 April, 2019 by Debra

vision boardIn January, guest Kim Steadman shared “Vision Boards And Why You Need at Least One In Your Life.” It took me 3 months, but I finally created mine, pictured above. I mounted it on the wall to the right of my desk, where I can easily see it all day long.

As Kim stated, “Vision boards give you the chance to give an image to your dreams and goals.” Proverbs 23:7 puts it this way: “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.”

What we think about, we act on—whether for good or bad.

Mark 11:23-24 NLT say

I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart. I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.

And John 14:13 NKJV echoes that.

And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

You can make vision boards for whatever you like. One for personal goals, one for business, one for your personal prayers. Or put all your goals on one board like I did.

I look at my board several times a day. I pray regularly for those items and envision already having received them just as it tells me to in Mark 11:24. And I am noticing positive changes.

  • My desire to write more books is growing and motivating me to sit down and write.
  • I am more disciplined in my day and my productivity has gone up.
  • I look forward to exercising and am disappointed when the weather forces me to exercise indoors.
  • My desire for fruits and vegetables is increasing and my urge for sugar is waning.

Kim originally thought vision boards were for “the airy-fairy and woo-woo individuals.” But the principles behind this tool are based not only on what we’ve learned about how the mind works, but also on biblical principles (like those above).

Here are 3 previous articles from my site that discuss how the mind works. If you are still iffy on creating a board to envision your goals, read these articles.

  • “Use Mind Principles to Succeed at Your Resolutions”
  • “How Do Mind-set and Beliefs Help Me Reach my Goals?”
  • “Writing affirmations that help you reach your goals.”
  • “Is your brain working against you?”
Do you have a vision board? If so, how is it helping you reach your goals?
